A Letter to Momo

As expected, i am writing this right after i watch a japanese movie, A Letter to Momo. (I don't want these feeling to fade away, so I am writing this down. This story involves a girl named Momo, who had just lost her dad, and then, moving into an unknown island, with her mom for them to start a new life together. Momo encounters weird goblins and meeting new friends while trying to adapt her new life away from Tokyo.

I love this story, a bit melodramatic but mostly fantasy, it tells a story about a young girl who tries to fit herself in a new surrounding. Together with the absence of a father, and sometimes the absence of her mother, Momo had an inner conflict within herself. In order to lessen the guilty in her, she tries to make a way to stay in put with the memories of her father, trying not to lose them. She hates everything that is new in their life. And me too, would hate that changes if it were to happen to me.

The end enclosed beautifully in this film, and I personally like how the writer uses many symbols of time: the old clock that ticking again after so long, the straw ships that sail away and the water that flows away. All of these are similar to our lives, where we somehow stopped at some point in our life, it is good to check ourselves once again and to forgive one self before forgiving others. Take a good look at our mistakes and say goodbyes to them, giving us a fresh start. Just jump, like Momo said, and embrace your fear :)

love,
Amalina.
